Your Personal Chef
Charles LaHaie is a native of Cheboygan, Michigan. A Frenchman by birth his passion for cooking and eating runs deep. Discussions at the LaHaie family meal time often centered on what would be enjoyed at the next repast. Early inspiration came from his mother and paternal grandmother, themselves "chefs par excellence". Charles' twenty five year culinary career really took off in 1982 when he moved to that great mecca of cooking, New Orleans, Louisiana. It was his many dining experiences both in the world famous eateries and the homes of the local Cajuns here which provided his inspiration to one day become a chef.
After two years of cooking classes and working in the kitchens of several large resorts he began his formal training at the finest culinary school in the world, the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, New York. Since graduating in 1986 Chef LaHaie has worked all across the country in all types of venues from small fine dining restaurants to large hotels where he gained vast experience in both front and back of the house operations.
Upon returning to northern Michigan the chef has kept his flare for good food and good drink alive by frequent entertaining of guests in his home as well as dining out on a frequent basis. The network of associated foodservice professionals he has aligned himself with keeps his finger on the pulse of the catering industry preparing him to make your catered event one that will keep you and your guests talking about "the next time we do this".
